Here Lived
This was the home of the Adar family.
Tamir (38), a farmer, the son of Yael and Moshe, third generation in the kibbutz, and the first grandson born in kibbutz Nir Oz.
He worked as head of the irrigation team at Ora Field Crops.
Hadas (38), the kibbutz nurse. Asaf, 7.5 years old, and Neta, 3.5 years old.
A house of love and joy, laughter and the bustling of children. A house whose door was always wide open to family and friends.
October 7th
In the early morning of October 7, Tamir, a member of the kibbutz’s first-response squad, left home to protect his family and the kibbutz community that he so loved. He bravely fought the hundreds of terrorists who invaded the kibbutz. TaTamir was wounded in the battle and kidnapped to Gaza while severely injured, and was pronounced dead there.
For long hours, Hadas and the children remained in the safe room alone, in darkness and silence, as terrorists came and left, shouting and shooting at the house, and trying unsuccessfully to break into the safe room. The house was desecrated and plundered. It began to burn and fill with smoke coming from the neighbors house, which was set aflame. Hadas and the children were rescued by friends at the last minute.
What Happened Since
Today, they live in Karme Gat, close to family, friends, and most of the survivors from the Nir Oz community.
After 749 days in captivity, and a long and hard battle for his return, Tamir was laid to proper rest in the ground of the same kibbutz that he loved so much and that he fought for with great bravery and heroism on that terrible morning.
