Here Lived
Margit and Yossi Silberman z”l lived in this house.
Margit was an educator who worked for years in the kibbutz kindergarten, raising generations of kibbutz children.
Yossi worked as a welder in the kibbutz garage, but was also a talented artist whose many paintings filled their safe room, which also served as Yossi’s art studio.
Yossi and Margit had two daughters, Shiri and Dana, and five grandchildren who they loved dearly and who loved them, visiting them in their house every day.
October 7th
On October 7, 2023, during the terror attack on the kibbutz, bloodthirsty terrorists broke into the house, murdering Yossi and Margit and burning down their house with all its contents, including all of Yossi’s artwork.
Dana survived that horrific day along with her husband and their three children.
Shiri was kidnapped into Gaza with her husband Yarden and their two young children, Kfir and Ariel.
What Happened Since
Yossi and Margit were laid to rest near the moshav where their daughter Dana lives, in the Tzohar Regional Cemetery.
After 484 days, Yarden was released from captivity. Shortly afterward, it was confirmed that Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir had been murdered in captivity, and their bodies were returned for burial. They were laid to rest alongside Yossi and Margit.
