Here Lived
This was the home of David and Bracha Shalev. David came to Kibbutz Nir Oz as part of the Nachal youth group, and Bracha came as his partner. They lived in Nir Oz for 55 years and raised a family of five children: Tal, Guy, Shai, Gali, and Ziv. Ziv also lived with her family in Nir Oz.
They also raised Susan Farkash and Sagit Senans, who came to the kibbutz as part of a youth-immigration group, as well as Rakefet Hollander – a lone soldier who joined the tribe.
David began his journey in the fields of Nir Oz, working as an irrigation coordinator and managing the irrigated farming branch. He then studied electrical and electronics engineering. After completing his studies, he joined the Nir Lat factory as a chief engineer and developed the production systems. He worked at the factory until his retirement, and later updated and reinforced the kibbutz infrastructure.
Bracha worked in education and chaired various committees on the kibbutz. She studied civil engineering and managed the branch. She led the expansion of the kibbutz homes as the community transitioned to home-based sleeping accommodations. At the same time, she opened “Beit Shalev” – a clinic for alternative medicine and therapy using extraterrestrials.
Bracha recalls: “Beit Shalev”, a bright turquoise house, stood next to our small house, and was built for many members and children, providing a source of great light and relaxation.
“Miracles” occurred thanks to the cooperation with forces from different, unknown worlds, and with them many secrets and powers to help anyone who sought help, health, and the fulfillment of dreams, such as developing the ability to speak, falling pregnant, opening ones heart to the unknown and the unfamiliar, and believing that there is a way to develop and create the unbelievable. Granted, one must practice and love along the way and at times, the work is Sisyphean. Yet trust is always built, while believing in good things yet to come.
October 7th
On October 7, Bracha was on a peace journey in Egypt. Tal came to visit his father for the holiday and stayed overnight in the safe room. Terrorists invaded their home, murdered David and Tal, and torched the house. The house burned for four days. Initially, David and Tal were listed as missing, and only two months later were their remains found in the house, proving the murder.
Bracha received a message from David, “Do not cry over my death, live my presence,” and a message from Tal, “The sun is shining, the birds are singing, so everything is okay.”
What Happened Since
Bracha lives in Karme Gat, as does her daughter Ziv and her family. Even today, the longing never ceases for the special spirit that accompanied and enveloped “Beit Shalev”.
Father/Grandfather David was a pillar of strength, filled with trust and faith in those same entities that guided us and illuminated the space we lived in and built.
An entire world within an infinite universe, filled entirely with curiosity, while walking toward the unknown, wondering in awe what tomorrow would bring. With endless love!
