Noya was born on November 20, 2010, in Tel Aviv. She was the eldest daughter of Galit Dan and the older sister of Tamar.
Noya and her grandmother, Carmela, were murdered by the forces of darkness on Saturday, October 7, 2023, in Kibbutz Nir Oz.
Noya dreamed and, more than anything, sought recognition. She knew no evil and could not comprehend why pain existed in the world. Noya lived fearlessly, unafraid and never imagining she could be harmed. Her view of the world was innocent and simple.
Noya was a child of light and joy, smiling, kindhearted, endlessly curious and full of humor.
Being around her was an endless adventure. She found everything exciting and interesting, and she always wanted to be first — at an event, a party or a celebration and, if possible, on stage as well.
Noya had much to give the world — dedication, diligence and curiosity. She loved exploring new things and was highly knowledgeable about the subjects that interested her. She loved learning and was always eager to know more. She had a special fondness for Harry Potter. She had read all the books in the series and was ready to immerse herself completely in the world of anime, which she had only recently discovered.
Despite the objective difficulties she faced in making connections and communicating, she always sought closeness with children her age. And despite facing endless rejection, she never gave up: she believed in herself and that everything would turn out fine.
Noya was accepted to the middle school at Rothman School in Eshel HaNasi. She was thrilled about the upcoming school year and confident she would find her place at the new school. She was fortunate to study there for a brief but very happy period.
There is no justice and no poetry in writing about a 12-year-old girl murdered in cold blood, without explanation, reason or hope. There is no justice and nothing positive in eulogizing a girl who had only just begun to live, with her entire life still ahead of her.
Noya and her grandmother, Carmela, shared a very close, strong relationship. They were deeply connected and loved each other very much. Even in death, they were not separated. Their bodies were found locked in an embrace in Carmela’s safe room at her home in Nir Oz.
She was 12 years old when she was murdered.
May Noya’s memory be a blessing.
