Daniel was born in 1989 in Manchester, England. He was a man of two worlds, shaped by his English father and Israeli mother, who together gave him a unique perspective on life. His parents, Dave and Batya, met on the kibbutz, and his siblings, Inbal, Lior and Shelly, were also born there.
Danny was curious and easily connected with people from all walks of life. He embraced his Israeli roots and, following in his father’s footsteps, worked in the fields and lived the simple kibbutz life that resonated so deeply with him. He had a strong connection to the community and formed lasting friendships.
Later, Berlin became his home, where he flourished as a talented photographer. He exhibited his work in Paris and New York, launching a promising career. Yet his heart remained in Nir Oz, and he returned often to the kibbutz, finding comfort and inspiration in the people and landscapes he cherished.
During his final visit to Israel in September 2023, he invited his girlfriend and muse, Caroline Bohl, to share the magic of kibbutz life with him. Their last days were filled with simple pleasures — riding bicycles, playing backgammon by the pool and capturing the beauty of Nir Oz through Danny’s camera lens. Danny was a gifted photographer with a gentle soul, a pacifist, and a beacon of kindness and humor.
His family and friends honor his memory and continue to promote the values he cherished: peace, creativity and living life to the fullest. Danny’s legacy lives on through his art, which continues to inspire and connect people across borders, just as he did throughout his life.
On October 7, 2023, Danny and Caroline were murdered in the safe room of the guesthouse where they were staying.
He was 34 years old at the time of his death.
