Dalit and Achi Ram Aharon

Here Lived

Dalit Ram was born in Nir Oz in 1979, the daughter of Rachel and Shmuel z”l.

Her partner, Achi Moshe Aharon, was born in 1982 in Kibbutz Givat Brenner.

After her military service, Dalit left the kibbutz and traveled around Israel and the world. Achi worked for years in Tel Aviv before returning to Givat Brenner. They met in 2011, married on September 27, 2012, and decided to come back to Nir Oz to build their life together, with Dalit ninth month pregnant. Their firstborn son, Matan, died at birth. Between 2014 and 2019, three more children were born: Ori, Lior, and Oren, bringing great light and joy into the home.

In 2020, Dalit’s brother Dotan passed away from cancer. Two months later, her mother Rachel, who also lived in Nir Oz, was diagnosed with ALS. Despite the pain, they chose to keep moving forward.

After years working in education, Dalit set out on her own and began building a women’s festival, “Festimama.” Achi had worked for years as a metal artist, and just before October 7, he was considering a career change to high-tech.

October 7th

On October 7, they meant to celebrate Ori’s ninth birthday with the extended family, in Nir Oz. Throughout the hours of terror, Ori kept saying over and over, “I don’t want to die on my birthday.”

At 10 a.m., terrorists entered the house firing, and ransacked and desecrated the home. Achi held the safe room door shut with all his strength and saved his family.

12 hours later, soldiers arrived to rescue them. They spent the night in a fortified kindergarten alongside the other survivors of the massacre, and the following day were evacuated to Eilat.

What Happened Since

Dalit’s parents, who had survived the massacre, both passed away in 2024. Her father died of a broken heart, and her mother from ALS.

Achi, Dalit, and their three children now live with the Nir Oz community in Karme Gat.
