Hadas Kalderon

Here Lived

This was the home of Hadas Dan Kalderon, daughter of Uri z”l and Carmela Dan z”l, who was viciously murdered in her home along with Hadas’ niece, Noya, on October 7.

Hadas is the mother of Gaya, Rotem, Sahar, and Erez. She practices alternative therapy and also managed the senior care services in the kibbutz

October 7th

On October 7, Hadas was alone in her home. Erez and Sahar were with their father, Ofer, and the three were kidnapped into Gaza.

That morning Hadas found a way to seal shut the door of her safe room with a rod, and as a result was able to prevent the terrorists who had broken into her house from reaching her. By 9 a.m. she had no battery left in her cellphone, as the electricity in her home had gone out. Throughout the rest of the day, Hadas remained alone in darkness, with no connection to the outside world. Only at the end of the day, when the army arrived to rescue her, did Hadas discover the enormity of the tragedy that had occurred to her and her family.

What Happened Since

Sahar and Erez were returned to Israel in the first hostage deal, 52 days into the war.

Ofer returned with the second hostage deal on February 1, 2025, after 484 days in captivity. He now lives with the rest of the Nir Oz community in Karme Gat.

Hadas was a leading figure in the campaign to bring the hostages home and is currently residing with the Nir Oz community in Kiryat Gat. On January 26, 2026, after 843 days of fighting for the return of all the hostages, the last hostage was brought back for burial.
