Yafa Adar

Here Lived

This was the home of Yafa Adar. Yafa was born in 1938 and joined Kibbutz Nir Oz in 1965.
Yafa is a mother of three, a grandmother of eight, and a great-grandmother of seven.
This house was a place of joy, music, good food, and family gatherings.

October 7th

On October 7, numerous terrorists broke into Yafa’s home. She was abducted from her safe room while the terrorists continued to loot and destroy her house. During her abduction, Yafa was driven into Gaza on a mobility scooter. While she was being filmed, she looked straight ahead, demonstrating profound composure and sending a clear message to her captors that they would not break her spirit.

What Happened Since

Yafa was held captive for 49 days, after which she was released as part of the first hostage deal. She waited and fought for the return of her grandson, Tamir, until his body was returned from Gaza after 746 days in captivity.
