Bracha Levinson z”l

Here Lived

In this home lived Bracha Levinson, z”l.

Bracha came to Nir Oz in 1966 with the Renanim youth group, from Kibbutz Ein Hashofet. They united with the Meiran group in Nir Oz and together enlisted to the Nahal unit.

Bracha had two daughters, whom she raised alone, and eight grandchildren, and they were her whole world. She had an extremely close and special relationship with her grandchildren. She loved her daughters and grandchildren unconditionally and was a devoted mother and grandmother, who invested everything in her family. Her daughters and grandchildren loved visiting the kibbutz, and her grandchildren would spend every vacation on the kibbutz and became friends of the kibbutz children.

Bracha was a modest and generous women, loved by everyone, and was a sympathetic ear to many people and to her family. For many years she worked in education and in the sewing workshop of the kibbutz. In recent years she managed the clothing branch, which included the kibbutz clothing store, the laundromat, and the sewing workshop.

Her biggest hobby was gardening. She took pride in her garden and loved to send pictures to her family.

October 7th

Bracha was cruelly murdered by the Nukhba terrorists on Saturday, October 7, 2023, during the terror attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz. She was murdered at 6:57 a.m., several minutes after she spoke with her daughters on the telephone, when the kibbutz was still unaware that there were terrorists. In those minutes in which she was murdered, there were no sirens and Bracha wasn’t in her safe room. She was murdered in the living room of her home. The terrorists uploaded a video of the murder to her Facebook page, and this was how the terrible tragedy was immediately revealed to her family. Later on, the terrorists burned her house with her body, and the identification process lasted almost three weeks.

What Happened Since

Bracha was buried at Kibbutz Nir Oz, the place she so loved. Her family left place on her grave for a small garden, to commemorate her great love for her lovely garden.

Her swing, which was recognized with her porch and upon which her grandchildren used to sit during every visit, was moved next to her grave and became a place for family and friends to sit when they visited.

Until this day, her family is fighting the bureaucracy so that Israel will recognize them as Victims of Hostiles Actions, because they watched Bracha’s murder on her Facebook account.

Mother, grandmother, beloved – you are deeply missed. We will love and remember you forever.
