Here Lived
Retired couple David and Edith Interator lived in this home. On this porch we kept fish in an aquarium and a small pool, birds, a cat, and a dog. We took care of our large, beautiful garden and enjoyed various hobbies.
October 7th
That Saturday, we went into the safe room at the first siren, together with our dog Bonnie. Not long after the alert began, we heard screaming in Arabic and the sounds of destruction coming from inside the house. We sat in the safe room in the dark for the rest of the day. In the afternoon, young looters managed to force open the safe-room door. Our dog, who had been lying quietly all day, stood up and faced them. He’s a gentle dog, not aggressive, but he’s large. The looters were scared. They ran off and didn’t return. That’s how we survived.
What Happened Since
We were evacuated along with the rest of the Nir Oz community to Eilat, and later moved to Karme Gat to live with the community and close to our grandchildren.
