Here Lived
Connected and connecting, bringing joy and full of joy (most of the time).
Iair is the beating heart of life in Nir Oz. Even though he wasn’t born or raised here, he holds one of the most vital roles within the community: the connector.
He was born and raised in Argentina and immigrated to Israel in 1999 with the youth movement group, “Habonim Dror”, in which he had been active since childhood.
Iair came to Nir Oz in 2014, at the height of Operation “Tzuk Eitan” (Operation Protective Edge), and immediately became a meaningful and inseparable part of community life. Together with Martin, he managed the kibbutz pub and produced dozens of community events (Purim parties, New Year’s Eve, Shavuot celebrations, Independence Day, and more).
Right within these walls, Iair wrote and recorded his unforgettable songs, “Here in Nir Oz” and “OrnaGideon”, and his biggest hit among the children, teens, and youth of Nir Oz – “A Drink with an Umbrella”.
A die-hard fan of Hapoel Be’er Sheva, a stand-up comedian at heart, and a true people person.
October 7th
On October 7, Iair was abducted with his brother Eitan, who had come for the weekend to visit his older brother.
What Happened Since
Iair returned after 498 days in captivity and dedicated himself entirely to the struggle to free his brother, Eitan. On October 13, 2025, after 738 days in Hamas captivity, Eitan was released as part of a hostage deal.
Now, Iair and Eitan can finally begin their journey of rehabilitation and recovery together.
