Here Lived
Hodaya and Menashe, a student couple, lived in the home since October 2021.
October 7th
On October 7, they were at home and heard everything, but the terrorists didn’t enter their home. The shooting, drilling, and shouting in Arabic were very close, but not inside. This fact helped them continue and hope that they would come out of that day alive.
Most residents of the students’ neighborhood left for the holiday, and so they survived.
Another couple, their friends Eliad and Tal, also stayed. They were guests for the holiday in an apartment across from theirs, and they too survived the massacre, along with Shiraz, another friend from the village. Their dog, Luna, went out with the first siren and was abducted and taken to Gaza.
Ron, another student, was in an adjacent apartment. He could not be reached since morning, when he reported that terrorists entered his home. Throughout the day they thought he was no longer alive. The concern and fear for him were unbearable. At the same time, announcements were received from the kibbutz App, and the situation gradually became clear.
After 11 hours in the safe room, when the IDF came to get them out, they were excited to find out that Ron was alive. He had been hiding behind the bed and survived although the terrorists came in and out of his home all day.
Another apartment in the village belonged to Noy. She had moved to the kibbutz a week earlier. She was at the nearby Psyduck party and escaped to the village along with two friends from the party – Kasanja and Dov.
They were shot at when entering the kibbutz gate in the morning, but survived and managed to get to the safe room. The terrorist had entered her apartment, but did not manage to enter the safe room, and they were saved.
